Notes on the Rattilisc

Regulus Crotalus - Rattilisc  (King Rattler, Desert Medusa)
Much is owed to Dr. Audivon for his incredibly valuable research in the field of Animal and Plant life of the Western territories. Dr. Audivon has made available to the public his notes on many of his findings. This has been particularly helpful in dispelling many of the myths surrounding some of the more elusive and previously unknown denizens of those regions. In particular, myths of the Rattilisc's ability to turn those who make eye contact with the creature into stone have been put to rest. While the creature does have an incredibly powerful paralytic venom, able to petrify animals as large as the plains bison, and great grizzly with it's bite, it cannot do so by it's gaze alone.
A word of warning must also be made concerning the sound produced by the great snake's rattle. The weak minded have been known to enter a docile stupor after exposure. This may explain the practice of certain Elven tribes of worshiping the rare albino strains of the creature.
Once again we are indebted to Dr. Audivon for his research and unmatched findings in this field.
